A point of view (POV) statement clearly articulates the point of view of a persona: who they are, what they need, and why. Your audience’s needs and values will form the basis of your design, and clearly defining their POV prepares you to start designing.

Step-by-step guide
- Write a name for your audience in empathetic language (i.e. Curious Carly). This could just be the name of a persona, if you have one.
- Describe their most salient need, want, or desire.
- Provide a reason, some kind of motivation behind that need/want/desire.
- Revise and refine until you feel the POV provides enough inspiration to jump into a HMW or ideation.
